Religious Education at the River ...
where every child or youth is a participant, leader, and recipient of every part of
the life of the congregation: worship, social gatherings, and social justice work.

The River of Grass Unitarian Universalist Congregation values children and understands the impact that faith development can have on the life of a child.
Unitarian Universalists believe that the search for truth and meaning is a life-long process. Our mission is to provide our children and youth with a spiritual foundation based on our Unitarian Universalist principles and a sense of wonder.
During the Fall of 2022, our youngest children begin their Sundays in worship with the larger community at 10:30am on the first and third Sundays of the month. Together, we share in the lighting of our chalice, the reading of our covenant and the singing of familiar hymns. One of our storytellers will share a Wisdom Tale, after which the congregation blesses our children with a “sending song” as they move to their faith development classes (around 11:00am). The children rejoin their families at 11:45, during hospitality time. Our classroom experiences center on the same themes that we share in worship and our covenant groups, giving our families a rich dive into familiar topics.
On the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays, River of Grass worship is virtual, with class time running from 12:00 – 1:00pm. Contact Ms. Karen for a Zoom link to join us.
During the 2022-23 school year, our middle schoolers meet from 10:00 – 12:00pm at the congregational office, just a few minutes away, for the Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education program. Learn more about this life-affirming program of the Unitarian Universalist Association here.
Beginning in January of 2023, worship will shift to 2:00pm at our new location, and meet in-person each Sunday. Our children’s programming will then shift to 2:30 – 3:15pm and our OWL kids will meet from 1:30 – 3:30pm. And, our nursery will reopen with a newly-hired staff person!
Once per month, we’ll all remain together in worship for a full multigenerational, interactive worship experience - this is faith development at its best!
New this January!
