At River of Grass there are a variety of ways to demonstrate your commitment to our community and to the community at large.
Our teams & committees are the means by which we actively create a better world for ourselves and for the greater community.
Caring Team: This compassionate group of volunteers assists members who are in need of meals, hospital or home visits, help with errands, and transportation. Caring Team members offer just the right amount of loving care when it is needed the most. Contact: caring@riverofgrassuu.org
Community Awareness Team: This team works in a variety of ways to make our Unitarian Universalist presence known in western Broward county. Some of the things they do include our website, our Facebook pages, email addresses, Reflections Newsletter, RoG branding, and brochures, to name just a few. Contact: communityawareness@riverofgrassuu.org
Faith Development Committee: This committee researches, plans, and implements the Sunday School Program for children from birth through high school, and organizes several family-oriented events annually. They are committed to offering our children a comfortable, meaningful and fun congregational life, and supporting the dedicated group of volunteer religious education teachers. Contact: faithdevelopment@riverofgrassuu.org
Finance Committee: Handles the day-to-day financial matters for the congregation, monitors expenses, and prepares the annual budget. Contact: finance@riverofgrassuu.org
fUUndraising Team: This group organizes the annual auction and other fundraising events held throughout the year. They promote awareness of each event, organize ticket sales, secure donations, and publish the annual auction catalog. Contact: fUUndraising@riverofgrassuu.org
Hospitality Team: While you are enjoying that cup of coffee or tea (or yummy snack) on a Sunday morning, you can thank this group of volunteers that make sure that there's plenty to go around each week! Contact: hospitality@riverofgrassuu.org.
Membership Committee: This committee reaches out to those who are searching for a progressive religious home. They are responsible for greeting visitors at Sunday services and following up with emails or phone calls. They also sponsor events to help visitors, friends, and new members get to know River of Grass (and each other) better. Contact: membership@riverofgrassuu.org
Service and Social Justice Green Team (SSJGT): Provides members and friends with a variety of opportunities to express their UU faith through service that may include working with community service agencies or developing projects unique to our own congregation. Contact: ssjgt@riverofgrassuu.org
Shared Ministry Team: Coordinates covenant and affinity groups, and assists in developing new small groups. The committee works to find ways to encourage all River of Grass members to discover their gifts -- their ministry -- and to connect with opportunities that feed their soul and nourish our congregation. Contact: sharedministry@riverofgrassuu.org
Worship Committee:Sunday worship service is one of the pillars of our congregational life. Assisted by our many lay volunteers, the Worship Committee is responsible for the coordination of our worship services. The Committee is responsible, also, for the logistics of Sunday worship service including setting up, providing audio-visual support, ushering, and collecting the offering.
