Community Gathering

​April 18, 6:30 pm at River of Grass Congregation

We will gather on Thursday evening, April 18th to kick off our good work to restore healthcare rights to women in Florida and throughout the Southeast.  We will join the UUA Zoom meeting at 7 pm -  "Getting Started With UU the Vote". 

This virtual event will include UU the Vote staff ready to answer your questions! Need some support with your UU the Vote work? Confused about what electoral work is “allowed” for non-profits? Want help finding a local partner to work with? Join us on Thursday, April 18 at 7 pm ET as we talk through some of the first steps to making a plan. 

Please join us at 6:30 pm for a brief ingathering before the Zoom meeting begins at 7:00 pm. If you'd like to get some tea and cookies before settling in, please arrive early. Following the meeting, we will discuss how we'd like to do our work. Leana Bresnahan and Karen Gonzalez are hoping we can meet the criteria for a "Good Trouble" congregation (see below).

GOOD TROUBLE Congregations

​The late Congressman John Lewis said, “When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something." In honor of his legacy and commitment, we’re continuing the Good Trouble Congregations program, which recognizes congregations committing to reach goals that collectively create our ability to reach three million potential voters this year.
Thank you to everyone who helped get signatures for the abortion protection ballot measure in Florida. But the battle for basic healthcare is just beginning. In less than 30 days, Florida’s six-week abortion ban goes into effect. This is not just a concern for the people of Florida, abortion access for thousands of people across the region is now that much more limited.
